Plain-Chant Grégorien

Released under the Trianon label in the mid-20th century, this recording of Plain-Chant Grégorien features the Schola des Pères du Saint-Esprit de Chevilly. The record serves as a liturgical document, capturing the solemn, monophonic vocal traditions of the Catholic Church. It emerged during a period when record labels sought to preserve ecclesiastical music for both scholarly study and spiritual contemplation, reflecting a growing post-war interest in historical musical forms.

The production aesthetic is intentionally austere, prioritizing the clarity of the chant over orchestral embellishment. As part of Trianon's broader catalog of religious and classical works, the record was designed to showcase the precise intonation and collective resonance of the Chevilly-based choir. It was received primarily by institutions and collectors of religious music, appreciated for its fidelity to the traditional performance practices of the Gregorian repertoire.
