Cyber Dragon

Cyber Dragon first appeared in the 2005 Cybernetic Revolution expansion, marking a significant shift in the Yu-Gi-Oh! trading card game by introducing a powerful monster that could be special summoned to the field without tributing. Its design, characterized by a sleek, mechanical aesthetic, was intended to represent the cutting edge of technological advancement in the game's lore. The card's immediate competitive dominance led to it becoming a staple in almost every high-level deck for several years, fundamentally changing how players approached monster deployment.

The version from the 2017 Starter Deck: Link Strike, numbered YS17-EN008, serves as a re-release meant to introduce newer players to iconic cards from the franchise's history. By this stage in the game's lifecycle, Cyber Dragon had been reimagined as a classic legacy card rather than a disruptive meta threat. The common rarity in this set reflects its status as an accessible, essential piece of history for those learning the mechanics of the Link Summoning era, ensuring that the legacy of the original design remained a foundational part of the player experience.
