Любимые песни: Подарок для друзей

Released in 2006, this collection serves as a significant archival project for the Sretensky Monastery Choir, an ensemble with roots dating back to the 14th century. The album was compiled during a period of revitalization for the choir under the leadership of Nikon Zhila, aimed at preserving and popularizing traditional Russian sacred and folk music for a modern audience. It functions as a cultural bridge, offering listeners access to historical choral arrangements that had been largely absent from public consciousness during the Soviet era.

The album's design and selection reflect a deliberate effort to curate a balanced repertoire that transitions between solemn liturgical chants and secular folk classics. The choir, renowned for its distinctive deep bass sections and precise harmonic balance, sought to capture the atmosphere of their live performances in the monastery. Upon its release, the recording was well-received for its technical clarity and emotional sincerity, establishing the Sretensky Monastery Choir as a leading representative of Russian musical heritage on the international stage.
