Linda og Valentin - Agenter i Tid og Rum #1

Linda og Valentin, originally titled Valérian et Laureline, debuted in 1967 within the pages of the French comics magazine Pilote. Created by writer Pierre Christin and illustrator Jean-Claude Mézières, the series was conceived as a sophisticated take on the science fiction genre, moving away from the black-and-white moralism of the era toward a more nuanced, sociopolitical narrative. The debut issue established the duo as temporal agents serving a futuristic Earth, setting the stage for decades of stories that would influence the aesthetic of modern space opera.

The visual identity of this debut was defined by Mézières' commitment to creating lived-in, organic-looking environments rather than the sterile, chrome-plated future common to the 1960s. His collaboration with Christin focused on the chemistry between the headstrong Laureline and the more impulsive Valérian, a dynamic that remained the series' anchor. The title was well-received upon its arrival in Denmark and abroad, eventually gaining recognition as a cornerstone of European bandes dessinées that laid the structural groundwork for influential films and literary works that followed.
