Where it came from
Oltretomba Speciaal was a long-running Italian horror comic series published by Edizioni ErreGì during the 1970s and 1980s. Part of the prolific wave of pocket-sized 'fumetti neri' that dominated Italian newsstands at the time, this series focused on anthology-style macabre tales, gothic atmospheres, and pulp-influenced storytelling intended for an adult audience.
Issue 121 belongs to the established house style of the publisher, characterized by gritty, black-and-white illustrations that leaned into supernatural themes and suspense. These issues were typically produced by a rotating collective of anonymous or pseudonymous artists working under tight deadlines, reflecting the low-cost, high-turnover production model that defined the period's mass-market comic landscape.
