The Savage She-Hulk #9

The Savage She-Hulk #9, published in 1980, belongs to the original ten-issue limited series that introduced Jennifer Walters to the Marvel Universe. Conceived by Stan Lee and illustrated by John Buscema, the character was created in response to the television success of The Incredible Hulk, with the goal of securing the She-Hulk trademark for the publisher. The series centered on Walters' transformation following a blood transfusion from her cousin, Bruce Banner, balancing traditional superhero tropes with the legal drama of her civilian life.

The art in this issue reflects the established house style of the era, characterized by Buscema's dynamic figure work and classic comic book layouts. While the series did not achieve the longevity of some other Marvel titles at the time of its release, it became a cornerstone for the character's legacy. Over the decades, the run has been revisited by fans and historians as a pivotal moment in late Bronze Age comics, marking the introduction of one of the publisher's most enduring female protagonists.
