Where it came from
The Siyokoy Funko Pop, numbered 111 in the Pop! Asia series, draws its inspiration from Philippine mythology. In local folklore, the Siyokoy are aquatic humanoid creatures often depicted as dangerous mermen or sea demons. Funko released this figure as part of their effort to broaden the reach of their vinyl toy lines into regional cultural markets, specifically targeting collectors in Southeast Asia who value representations of local legends within the stylized aesthetic of the Pop! brand.
The design of the figure leans into the traditional visual shorthand for the Siyokoy, featuring reptilian scales, aquatic features, and a distinct color palette intended to evoke deep-sea imagery. It was designed to maintain the signature oversized head and simplified proportions typical of the Funko aesthetic while translating complex mythological imagery into a simplified, mass-producible form. Since its release, it has been primarily sought after by fans of Philippine folklore and regional toy collectors who appreciate the series' deviation from standard Western pop culture icons.
