Angel

The Angel token from the Magic Origins set, released by Wizards of the Coast in 2015, serves as a functional representation of a creature summoned by various spells and abilities within the trading card game. Magic Origins was designed as a bridge between the game's core sets and the deeper narrative arcs of its iconic Planeswalker characters, marking the final core set release before the company transitioned to a new block structure. The token was included in booster packs to provide players with a physical marker for board states, a necessity in the mechanical ecosystem of Magic: The Gathering.

The artwork for this particular Angel was illustrated by Johannes Voss. Voss, a prominent artist within the Magic community, utilized a luminous, ethereal aesthetic that aligns with the game's traditional depiction of angelic beings as powerful, benevolent entities. His design emphasizes radiant light and soft, flowing forms, aiming to capture the celestial nature of the creature while maintaining the high-fantasy visual standards consistent with the set's artistic direction. It was received as a standard but aesthetically pleasing addition to the game's library of auxiliary game pieces.
