Provenance

Where it came from

The Angel token was released in 2015 as part of the Commander 2015 accessory set for the Magic: The Gathering trading card game. These tokens were designed to serve as visual markers for creatures created during gameplay, specifically for decks centered around the Angelic Arbiter or similar cards that generate 4/4 white Angel creature tokens with flying.

The artwork for this token was commissioned by Wizards of the Coast to maintain the high-fantasy aesthetic consistent with the plane of Innistrad and the broader Magic multiverse. Illustrators for the set were tasked with creating a recognizable, ethereal figure that conveyed both power and grace, ensuring that players could easily distinguish it from other creature tokens on the battlefield during complex multiplayer games.
