Where it came from
The Angel token from the Core Set 2021 was introduced by Wizards of the Coast as a supplemental card intended to represent creatures created by various spells and abilities within the Magic: The Gathering ecosystem. Released in July 2020, this token was designed to provide players with a clear, standardized physical marker for gameplay clarity during matches where cards like 'Bishop of Wings' or 'Resplendent Angel' generate temporary or permanent entities on the battlefield.
The visual design of this specific token was crafted to align with the high-fantasy aesthetic characteristic of the Core Set 2021 expansion. It features distinct, ethereal artwork that emphasizes the celestial nature of the creature, adhering to the traditional visual language of white-aligned Magic cards. The token was well-received by the player base for its clean layout and cohesive art style, which helped streamline competitive and casual play alike.
