Provenance

Where it came from

The Assault Drone card appears in the Star Trek Customizable Card Game (CCG) First Edition, produced by Decipher, Inc. during the mid-1990s. This card was released as part of the Borg expansion set, which introduced the collective as a formidable antagonist faction for players, reflecting the cultural impact of the Borg's prominent role in Star Trek: The Next Generation and Star Trek: First Contact.

The design of the card utilizes iconic production stills of Borg drones, emphasizing the clinical and menacing aesthetic of the species. The artwork was chosen to align with the game's focus on immersive tactical play, where the Borg units were designed to act as a relentless, hive-minded force that mechanically overwhelmed opponents, successfully capturing the atmospheric threat the drones presented on television.
