Where it came from
Authority of the Consuls was originally released as a rare enchantment in the Kaladesh expansion for Magic: The Gathering. The card was designed to provide players with a strategic tool to stifle creature-based strategies by entering the battlefield tapped, reflecting the orderly, bureaucratic, and artifice-focused aesthetic of the plane of Kaladesh.
This specific iteration is part of the Foundations Promos set, identified by collector number 137s. These promotional cards serve as modern updates or alternate-art versions of iconic spells, designed to provide established players and newcomers alike with accessible, visually distinct versions of cards that remain staples in various competitive formats due to their efficiency in disrupting aggressive deck archetypes.
