Provenance

Where it came from

The Construct token (collector number 16) was released in 2021 as part of the Modern Horizons 2 set for the Magic: The Gathering trading card game. It was designed to support various cards within the expansion, such as 'Urza's Saga,' which creates these specific artifact creature tokens. The set was notable for its inclusion of complex, high-power mechanics designed specifically for modern-era formats, necessitating a wide array of official token representations to maintain board state clarity during gameplay.

The artwork for this token was illustrated by Titus Lunter. Lunter’s design reflects the industrial and mechanical aesthetic central to the themes of the set, depicting a sturdy, brass-toned automaton. The token was well-received by the player base for its clean, functional design and consistent art style, which helped it become a staple accessory for players utilizing artifact-heavy strategies in competitive and casual settings alike.
