Costume Shop

Costume Shop is a card from the Unfinity set, released in 2022 as the fourth installment in the Magic: The Gathering 'Un-' series. Designed for casual and novelty play, the set utilizes a carnival and space-age science fiction aesthetic to explore mechanics that deviate from standard tournament rules. This specific card represents a common fixture in the set's top-down design approach, blending humorous thematic elements with the set's overarching space-carnival narrative.

The artwork for this card, illustrated by Wisnu Tan, leans into the playful and vibrant tone characteristic of the Un-sets. The design focuses on the visual tropes of a cosmic prop department, aiming to evoke a sense of whimsical world-building rather than the gritty realism found in traditional sets. It was received by the player base as a niche utility piece within the set's unique environment, serving as a flavorful example of the thematic depth Magic: The Gathering creates for its supplemental releases.
