What it does
Destroy target creature. If that creature dies this way, its controller creates two tokens that are copies of that creature, except their power is half that creature's power and their toughness is half that creature's toughness. Round up each time.
The audience always loves it, but volunteers are divided.

Where it came from
Saw in Half was released in 2022 as part of the Unfinity expansion, a set designed by Wizards of the Coast to explore the boundaries of the Magic: The Gathering ruleset through silver-bordered humor and experimental mechanics. It was created to lean into the set's carnival-themed aesthetic, providing a literal and mechanical interpretation of the classic stage magic trope where a performer is divided for an audience.
The card was illustrated by Sergey Glushakov, who utilized a vivid, illustrative style to capture the theatricality of the act. The design team focused on creating a card that balanced technical utility with the chaotic, fun-first philosophy of the Un-sets, resulting in a card that allowed players to destroy their own creatures to generate double the value. It was generally well-received by the community for its clever blend of flavor and high-impact gameplay potential.
