What it does

The most terrifying thing about the Craw Wurm is probably the horrible crashing sound it makes as it speeds through the forest. This noise is so loud it echoes through the trees and seems to come from all directions at once.

Provenance

Where it came from

The Summer Magic set, known colloquially as Edgar, was produced in 1994 as a corrective print run intended to replace the flawed Revised Edition of Magic: The Gathering. Due to a series of logistical and printing errors, the vast majority of this set was destroyed by the manufacturer, leaving a very small number of cards to enter circulation. This specific Craw Wurm, bearing the set's distinct copyright date and coloring, serves as a rare vestige of a release that was never intended to reach the public market.

The artwork for the Craw Wurm was originally provided by Dan Frazier for the Alpha release and was repurposed for the Summer Magic print run. The design intent was to maintain consistency with the Revised card pool while rectifying technical printing issues like washed-out colors and misprints. The set is now considered one of the most significant rarities in trading card history, valued by collectors as a historical anomaly rather than for the gameplay utility of the cards themselves.
