Provenance

Where it came from

The Dragon token, numbered 7 in the Modern Masters 2017 set, was released by Wizards of the Coast in March 2017. As part of a specialized reprint set designed to provide players with sought-after cards from the Modern format, these tokens were included in booster packs to serve as essential physical markers for game mechanics. They allowed players to represent creatures summoned by specific cards, such as Dragon Roost or various spells that create dragon tokens during gameplay.

The artwork for this token was commissioned to align with the high-fantasy aesthetic of the Magic: The Gathering multiverse. It features a fierce, gold-scaled dragon in a dynamic flight pose, emphasizing the power and majesty associated with the creature type. Like other tokens in the Modern Masters series, the design emphasizes clarity and thematic consistency, ensuring the card is easily distinguishable on the tabletop while maintaining the high production quality expected of the Modern Masters line.
