Eldrazi

The Eldrazi token, produced for The Brothers' War Commander set in late 2022, serves as a functional game piece for Magic: The Gathering. These tokens were created to support specific mechanical interactions within the set, allowing players to represent the presence of these colossal, reality-warping entities on the battlefield when prompted by various card effects. The design continues the established visual legacy of the Eldrazi as grotesque, multi-dimensional threats, characterized by their otherworldly anatomy and muted, desaturated color palettes.

The artistic direction for these tokens aims to maintain the high standard of visual storytelling inherent in the Magic: The Gathering multiverse. By utilizing distinct digital illustration techniques, the artists emphasized the eldritch nature of the creatures, ensuring they remain visually jarring and distinct from standard creature cards. Upon release, these tokens were well-received by the player base for their utility and the consistent, immersive aesthetic that reinforces the lore of the Eldrazi's lingering influence across the game's various timelines.
