Where it came from
Family's Favor was released as part of the Streets of New Capenna Commander set in 2022. It belongs to the specific cycle of promotional cards associated with the set's organized play and release events, capturing the art-deco, 1920s-inspired aesthetic of the plane of New Capenna. The card design leans into the thematic mechanics of the Obscura crime family, emphasizing the intrigue and strategic manipulation central to the set's narrative arc.
The illustration was crafted to reflect the opulence and underlying tension of the setting, utilizing the vibrant, stylized color palettes common to the Art Deco movement that defined the visual language of the New Capenna block. It was designed to function within the Commander format, providing players with tactical versatility. The card was well-received by players for its thematic integration and its utility in decks focusing on strategic card advantage and resource management.
