Lord of Atlantis

Lord of Atlantis was originally released as part of the Alpha set in 1993, designed by Jesper Myrfors for the foundational set of the Magic: The Gathering trading card game. The card features an illustration by Amy Weber, who captured the aquatic essence of the creature in a style consistent with the early, painterly aesthetic of the game. It was conceived as a tribal lord to buff Merfolk creatures, a role that cemented its status as a staple for blue-aligned decks during the game's formative years.

The specific Summer Magic version, often referred to as the Edgar set, was a limited production run intended as a correction for the Revised Edition. Due to a series of printing errors and a lack of quality control, Wizards of the Coast intended to destroy the majority of the print run. A small quantity inadvertently reached the public, making the Summer Magic printings some of the rarest and most sought-after cards in the history of the game, distinguished by their unique color correction and printing date.
