Where it came from
Ground Seal was originally introduced in the Odyssey set in 2001 as a green enchantment designed to disrupt graveyard-reliant strategies. Within the context of the Wilds of Eldraine: Enchanting Tales bonus sheet, it was reprinted as a stylistic nod to classic enchantments, reimagined to fit the fairy-tale aesthetic of the Eldraine plane.
The art for this specific printing was created by illustrator Zezhou Chen, who utilized a whimsical, storybook-inspired visual language characteristic of the set. By stripping away the grim tone of the original release and replacing it with the lush, folkloric charm of Eldraine, the design aimed to harmonize the card's functional utility with the narrative tone of the block.
