Where it came from
Magnetic Mountain was originally released as part of the 1994 Summer Magic set, also known as the Edgar set in some regions. This release was a special, limited print run of the core Magic: The Gathering game intended for the Italian market. It was produced during a time of immense growth for the trading card game, created by Wizards of the Coast to address international demand and logistical challenges in distribution.
The card features artwork that aligns with the established aesthetic of early Magic: The Gathering, where illustration styles were eclectic and often commissioned from freelance artists to quickly populate the game's expansive early expansions. Designed to interact with the game's core resource system, the card represents the tactical variety that defined the early era of the game, providing players with specific utility within the competitive landscape of the mid-1990s.
