Where it came from
The Summer Magic Swamp, often referred to as the Edgar set, originated in 1994 as a replacement for the Revised Edition of Magic: The Gathering. Due to a printing error that resulted in numerous card misprints, Wizards of the Coast pulled the initial print run, but a small quantity of the corrected stock was inadvertently distributed to a distributor in Edgar, Wisconsin. This unique provenance distinguishes the set as one of the most enigmatic and limited production runs in the game's history.
The artwork follows the standard aesthetics established during the early years of the game, maintaining the grim, atmospheric style of the era's basic lands. While the illustrations mirror those found in the Revised Edition, the Summer Magic versions are distinguished by a subtle adjustment in color saturation and card stock quality. These cards are highly sought after by collectors not for the design itself, but for the rarity born from their accidental survival and the peculiar circumstances of their restricted release.
