Where it came from
Opposition was originally printed in the 2001 set Invasion, designed as a powerful blue enchantment that allowed players to tap their creatures to neutralize an opponent's resources. The card became a staple in control-oriented strategies, particularly in professional tournament play, due to its ability to lock down an opponent's board state during their upkeep. Its inclusion in Dominaria Remastered serves as a nostalgic celebration of the game's deep history, reprinting iconic mechanics for modern draft environments and collectors.
The artwork featured in the Dominaria Remastered printing highlights the classic aesthetic of the card, maintaining its identity as a cornerstone of blue-aligned utility. While the original illustration by rk post set the visual tone for the card’s disruptive nature, the Dominaria Remastered release utilized updated art by Magali Villeneuve to reflect a more contemporary, polished style while honoring the mechanical legacy of the original design. This version was well-received by players for its balance of high-utility gameplay and refreshed visual storytelling.
