Platinum Angel was originally introduced in the Mirrodin expansion set in 2003, quickly becoming a fixture in Magic: The Gathering due to its game-altering ability that prevents a player from losing the game. The card was selected for inclusion in the Tenth Edition core set, which served as a milestone release in 2007, marking the transition to the modern card frame for the core series. The artwork for this particular version was created by the fantasy illustrator Brom.
