What it does

Search your library for a basic land card, put it onto the battlefield, then shuffle.

Suspend 2—green mana (Rather than cast this card from your hand, you may pay green mana and exile it with two time counters on it. At the beginning of your upkeep, remove a time counter. When the last is removed, you may cast it without paying its mana cost.)

Provenance

Where it came from

Search for Tomorrow was originally printed in the 2006 Time Spiral expansion, designed to evoke the nostalgia of Magic: The Gathering's history by featuring mechanics from the game's earliest years. As a sorcery that allows a player to search their library for a basic land and put it into play, it served as a functional update to the classic Rampant Growth, providing a more powerful effect by utilizing the suspend keyword. This mechanic, which allowed players to pay a lower cost to play a card later, was central to the set's theme of revisiting past design philosophies through a modern lens.

For the Time Spiral Remastered release in 2021, the card was reprinted to highlight iconic designs from the original block. The illustration by Dan Scott captures the ethereal, temporal shift associated with the card's function of pulling resources from the future of one's deck. Within the community, the card is widely regarded as a staple of green ramp strategies in casual and Commander formats, praised for its efficiency in thinning the deck and accelerating mana production over several turns.
