Provenance

Where it came from

Search for Tomorrow was originally printed in the 2006 expansion set Coldsnap, a release designed to complete the Ice Age block by exploring themes and mechanics that were left unfinished a decade prior. The card was later reprinted in Modern Masters, a curated set designed to provide players with access to staple cards from the modern competitive format. By offering a functional utility in green-based decks, it has become a recognizable fixture in the game’s history.

The card’s illustration was created by artist Randy Gallegos. His work for this piece focuses on the stark, desolate landscapes characteristic of the Dominarian ice age, emphasizing a sense of exploration and survival. The design was received as a highly efficient way to manage resources early in a match, and its balance between low cost and long-term benefit made it a standard inclusion for many players throughout its tenure in various competitive formats.
