Where it came from
The Silverfur Partisan was released in 2016 as part of the Shadows over Innistrad expansion for Magic: The Gathering. This specific card was distributed as a rare promotional foil, typically awarded to players for their participation in Friday Night Magic events at local game stores. The card serves as a representative of the Werewolf creature type, which is central to the horror-themed narrative of the Innistrad plane.
The card features artwork by Lake Hurwitz, who utilized a gothic and gritty aesthetic to align with the set's brooding atmosphere. Designed to synergize with other Wolf and Werewolf creatures, the card reflects the strategic focus of the expansion on creature-type tribal mechanics. Upon its release, it was well-received by players building aggressive green-based decks, particularly those focusing on creature synergy and resilience.
