Snake

The Snake token, numbered 20 in the Commander 2019 token set, was released by Wizards of the Coast in August 2019. It serves as a game piece for the Commander format of Magic: The Gathering, specifically designed to represent creature tokens generated by cards like Seshiro the Anointed or various green-aligned spells within the preconstructed deck releases of that year. Tokens are functional accessories produced alongside the main card sets to streamline gameplay by providing a visual marker for creatures created during a match.

The artwork for this token adheres to the aesthetic standards of the 2019 Commander cycle, utilizing a specialized digital illustration style that emphasizes the sleek, coiled nature of the creature. While token artists for these sets are often part of the internal Wizards of the Coast design team or contracted illustrators, the design focuses on a clear, recognizable silhouette to ensure immediate identification during the fast-paced flow of a multiplayer game. Upon its release, it was well-received by players for its utility and consistent visual integration with the accompanying decks.
