Spirit

The Spirit token, assigned collector number 1341, was released as part of the Secret Lair Drop series, a specialty line of Magic: The Gathering cards introduced by Wizards of the Coast in 2019. These drops are curated as limited-run, direct-to-consumer collections that emphasize unique artistic styles, often collaborating with external illustrators, bands, or artistic movements to provide a distinct aesthetic departure from the standard game card frames. This specific token serves as a functional game piece representing a creature type frequently generated by cards within the game's broader mechanical ecosystem.

The design of Secret Lair tokens is centered on artistic expression rather than standard lore-based illustration. These cards are created to offer players a collectible, visually elevated alternative to the base-game tokens typically found in booster packs. By commissioning varied artistic perspectives, the series aims to appeal to both functional players looking to customize their decks and collectors interested in the specific aesthetic signatures of the featured artists. The reception of these drops has generally been defined by their focus on visual storytelling and the high-quality, often unconventional art direction that distinguishes them from mass-market card releases.
