Provenance

Where it came from

The Squid token was released as part of the Final Fantasy Commander Tokens series, a collection designed to support gameplay mechanics within the popular trading card game ecosystem. These tokens were created to provide players with official, thematically consistent physical representations of board-state creatures, specifically catering to cards that generate Squid tokens during play.

The artistic direction for this set draws inspiration from the aquatic aesthetic typical of the Final Fantasy franchise, emphasizing fluid linework and vibrant, deep-sea color palettes. By standardizing the visual language of these tokens, the design team aimed to enhance the immersive experience of the game, ensuring that utilitarian card-game components felt like an integrated part of the broader fantasy world.
