Where it came from
Strike It Rich was released in 2021 as part of the Modern Horizons 2 set for Magic: The Gathering. Designed as a direct-to-Modern expansion, the set was curated to introduce new cards and reprints specifically for the Modern competitive format. Mechanically, the card serves as a mana-fixing and ramp tool, reflecting the set's focus on high-utility cards that interact with the graveyard or provide efficient resource management during early turns.
The card features artwork by illustrator Johannes Voss, who has contributed extensively to the visual identity of the game. His design for Strike It Rich captures a classic fantasy aesthetic of treasure and discovery, aligning with the card's theme of generating a Treasure token. Upon release, the card saw immediate play in various competitive shells, particularly those looking to accelerate into higher-cost spells or trigger artifact-related synergies, solidifying its reputation as a staple piece of card advantage in the format.
