Where it came from
Swords to Plowshares was originally printed in the Alpha set of Magic: The Gathering in 1993, designed by Richard Garfield as a definitive white removal spell. Over decades, it has become one of the most iconic cards in the game, defined by its ability to exile a creature in exchange for giving the opponent life, a mechanic that perfectly captures the flavor of its namesake.
The MagicFest 2025 version, numbered 12, features updated artistic direction that aligns with the contemporary visual language of the game. These promotional releases are typically distributed through high-level competitive events, designed to provide established players and collectors with unique, commemorative iterations of classic cards that maintain the functional integrity of the original design.
