Where it came from
Urza's Saga was originally released in the 1998 Magic: The Gathering expansion of the same name, designed by Mark Rosewater and his team to represent the mechanical ingenuity of the character Urza. The card is a legendary land that functions as an enchantment, reflecting the artifact-heavy nature of the Urza block. Its unique design allows players to create construct tokens that scale in power based on the number of artifacts they control, making it a staple in competitive formats.
This specific printing comes from the 2022 Secret Lair Countdown Kit. The set was designed as an advent-style calendar of thirty individual cards, each featuring exclusive, stylized artwork that deviates from the original set's aesthetic. The illustration for this version was commissioned to celebrate the card's prestige, focusing on a minimalist, premium look that has been well-received by collectors who prioritize the aesthetic cohesion of the Secret Lair series over traditional card art.
