Goethes sämmtliche Werke. Neu durchgesehene und ergänzte ausg. in sechsunddreissig bänden. Mit einleitungen von Karl Goedeke ...

This thirty-six volume collection of Johann Wolfgang von Goethe's complete works was published in Stuttgart by J.G. Cotta during the late 19th century. As the primary publisher for Goethe during his lifetime, the Cotta firm maintained an intimate connection to the author’s legacy, and this edition was curated to provide a comprehensive and scholarly resource for the German-speaking public following the stabilization of Goethe's definitive canon.

The edition features comprehensive introductions by the esteemed literary historian Karl Goedeke. Goedeke was a pioneer in German philology, and his involvement was intended to move beyond simple reprinting to provide a critical, structured framework for readers navigating the vast breadth of Goethe's poetry, prose, and scientific treatises. The set was widely received by libraries and private collectors of the era as a authoritative standard for academic study and personal enrichment.
