Orlando Furioso in Italian and English

Ludovico Ariosto's Orlando Furioso was first published in 1516, emerging from the vibrant literary culture of the Italian Renaissance at the court of Ferrara. This epic poem, which synthesizes medieval Arthurian legend with the traditions of classical antiquity, was intended to serve as a sophisticated entertainment for the Este family and eventually became one of the most influential works in Western literature, setting the standard for the romantic epic genre.

The ISBN provided corresponds to a modern print-on-demand reproduction of historical editions, intended to preserve the text for contemporary scholars and bibliophiles. These editions typically feature bilingual layouts that pair the original Italian ottava rima with an English translation, a design approach meant to bridge the linguistic gap for modern readers while honoring the complex, winding narrative structure and humanist wit that defined Ariosto’s original vision.
