The Complete Poetical Works of Samuel Taylor Coleridge, Including Poems and Versions of Poems Now Published for the First Time

This scholarly collection, edited by Ernest Hartley Coleridge and first published in 1912 by the Clarendon Press, serves as the definitive Oxford English Text edition of the poet's body of work. It was curated to provide a comprehensive look at Samuel Taylor Coleridge’s verse, integrating previously unpublished materials and revised versions of his poems that had remained largely scattered or neglected for decades after his death. The editorial effort aimed to establish a rigorous, chronological record of his creative output, reflecting the nineteenth-century movement toward exhaustive literary canonization.

The design of the volume adheres to the classic academic standards established by the Oxford University Press, favoring a clean, legible typography that prioritizes textual accuracy and scholarly apparatus. By meticulously documenting variants and incorporating the 'new' discoveries of the early twentieth century, Ernest Hartley Coleridge sought to reconcile the disparate legacy of his grandfather’s work. The collection was well-received by literary critics of the period, who praised it as an essential reference for understanding the evolution of the Romantic movement and the complexities of Coleridge’s artistic development.
