The Complete Poetical Works of Samuel Taylor Coleridge: Including Poems and Versions of Poems Now Published for the First Time : Ed. with Textual and Bibliographical Notes : Dramatic Works and Appendices

Published by Oxford University Press as part of the Oxford English Texts series, this scholarly edition was edited by E.H. Coleridge in 1912. The collection serves as an exhaustive, definitive compilation of Samuel Taylor Coleridge’s verse, designed to provide a comprehensive record of his dramatic works, fragments, and previously unpublished drafts. It emerged from a long tradition of nineteenth-century literary scholarship aimed at formalizing the canon of Romantic poetry through meticulous textual analysis and bibliographical rigor.

The editorial approach focused on establishing an authoritative chronology, incorporating extensive textual notes that reflect the deep academic scrutiny applied to Coleridge’s inconsistent manuscripts. By bringing together disparate poems and versions that had remained scattered or obscure during the author's lifetime, the volume became a foundational resource for critics and students alike. It was well-received upon its release for its scholarly gravity and remains a standard reference work for those researching the intricate history of Coleridge’s creative output.
