Where it came from
The Issho card (OP14-021) from The Azure Sea's Seven set is a character card modeled after the Admiral character from the long-running One Piece trading card game. It was released to reflect the tactical, gravity-manipulating nature of the character, incorporating specific gameplay mechanics designed to disrupt opponents' board states. The design team aimed to capture the Admiral's stoic and formidable presence, utilizing high-contrast artwork that emphasizes his iconic purple cloak and sword-wielding posture.
This card was developed during a period when the game was expanding its mechanical depth, focusing on color-identity synergy. The illustration reflects a departure from static character portraiture, instead opting for a dynamic action shot consistent with the series' aesthetic standards. Upon release, it was well-received by competitive players for its utility in controlling board tempo, and it remains a staple piece for collectors interested in the marine-themed expansions of the set.
