Provenance

Where it came from

The Shanks card from the OP-09 'Emperors in the New World' set was released by Bandai as part of the One Piece Card Game, a strategic trading card game launched in 2022 to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Eiichiro Oda’s long-running manga series. This specific card represents the character Shanks, one of the Four Emperors, and is designed to reflect his formidable status and influence within the series narrative through high-tier gameplay mechanics typical of the 'Character' card classification.

The card features dynamic illustration and layout work consistent with the aesthetic direction of the OP-09 expansion, which focuses on the most powerful figures inhabiting the New World. As with many high-rarity cards in the One Piece TCG, the design aims to capture the gravity of the character’s presence, balancing iconic manga imagery with the functional requirements of the card game's competitive meta. It was received as a significant addition to the card pool, appealing to both players looking for competitive utility and collectors focused on high-profile characters.
