Where it came from
Preparation of Rites was originally introduced to the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game in 2009 as part of the Ancient Prophecy expansion. It was designed to support Ritual Summoning strategies, allowing players to add a Level 7 or lower Ritual Monster from their deck to their hand while also retrieving a Ritual Spell from the graveyard. This utility made it a staple card for decks focusing on specific Ritual monsters, providing both consistency and resource recovery for archetypes that would otherwise struggle with the inherent card disadvantage of the mechanic.
The 25th Anniversary Rarity Collection II version, designated RA02-EN056, serves as a celebratory reprint of this classic card. Like other cards in this set, it features a specialized premium foil treatment designed to commemorate the history of the game. The card retains its original functional design, which remains highly regarded by players for its efficiency. The artwork, which depicts a ceremonial setting consistent with the card's theme, is presented here with the modern manufacturing enhancements characteristic of the Rarity Collection series.
