Where it came from
Released in 2013, Klangwelten - 25 Jahre Dialog Der Kulturen serves as a retrospective compilation celebrating the quarter-century milestone of Rüdiger Oppermann's Klangwelten festival. The project was conceived to document the evolution of this unique musical gathering, which has long functioned as a cross-cultural hub for world music artists. By curating a selection of tracks recorded over decades of performances, the album encapsulates the project's core mission: fostering artistic collaboration between diverse musical traditions through the harp, Oppermann's signature instrument.
The album's design and conceptual direction reflect Oppermann’s long-standing aesthetic, which prioritizes the organic integration of traditional ethnic sounds with contemporary arrangements. As a self-released project through his own Klangwelten Records label, the compilation is characterized by its archival intent, aiming to preserve the ephemeral magic of live international ensembles. Critics and fans of world music received the release as a definitive summary of Oppermann's efforts to create a 'dialogue of cultures' that transcends geographical and stylistic boundaries.
