Where it came from
The 2024 Andorra 2 Euro commemorative coin was issued to celebrate the centennial of skiing in the principality. The design pays homage to the introduction of winter sports in the region, which began in the early 20th century and transformed Andorra from an isolated agricultural society into a premier international destination for winter tourism.
The coin features an artistic rendering of a skier in motion, framed by stylized mountain peaks that represent the Pyrenean landscape. The design was selected by the Andorran government to emphasize the historical importance of the sport as a catalyst for the nation's modernization and its ongoing cultural commitment to mountain heritage.
