Where it came from
This 2 euro commemorative coin was minted by Andorra in 2024 to mark the hosting of the UCI Mountain Bike World Championships in the principality. The event served as a major showcase for Andorra’s mountainous terrain and its growing reputation as a global hub for high-altitude cycling, integrating the nation's sporting prestige into its numismatic program.
The design of the coin features a stylized cyclist mid-maneuver, intended to capture the speed and technical challenge of mountain bike racing. Like many of Andorra's commemorative issues, the piece was produced in limited quantities primarily for the collector market, following the nation's established tradition of celebrating domestic milestones through legal tender commemorative currency.
