Where it came from
The 2016 Belgian 2-euro commemorative coin was issued to mark the 20th anniversary of Child Focus, a Belgian foundation dedicated to finding missing and sexually exploited children. The Belgian government authorized this commemorative issue to highlight the organization's humanitarian mission and its two decades of collaboration with police and international authorities to safeguard minors.
The coin's design features a portrait of a child surrounded by the foundation's name and the anniversary dates. It was minted at the Royal Belgian Mint and serves as a circulating commemorative piece, intended to raise public awareness for the foundation's ongoing efforts. The design is deliberately sober and focused on the child, reflecting the serious nature of the organization's work.
