Where it came from
This 2-euro commemorative coin was issued by the Principality of Andorra in 2016 to mark the 25th anniversary of the founding of Ràdio i Televisió d'Andorra (RTVA), the public broadcaster of the country. The release commemorates the institution's role in shaping Andorran national identity and media landscape since it began operations in 1991, reflecting the nation's efforts to establish independent public communication services.
The design features a stylized representation of a microphone and an antenna, symbolizing the dual nature of the public broadcast station. Created by the Andorran minting authorities to align with standard Eurozone commemorative coin specifications, the piece emphasizes the broadcaster's technical evolution. It was received as a standard commemorative issue, primarily circulating among numismatists and those interested in the relatively brief history of Andorran Euro coinage since the country began issuing its own currency in 2014.
