Provenance

Where it came from

Champion of Wits was originally printed as a rare creature in the 2017 Magic: The Gathering set Hour of Devastation, designed by Wizards of the Coast to facilitate graveyard-based strategies. The card’s design, featuring the eternalize mechanic, allows players to cast it from their graveyard as a token copy, making it a functional utility card that balances card selection with long-term resource management.

The specific version released in the Forgotten Realms Commander Tokens collection functions as a token representation for the card's eternalized form. Illustrated by Anna Steinbauer, the token portrays a mummified, blue-skinned entity reflecting the aesthetic of the Amonkhet setting, providing a clear and visually consistent marker for players during tabletop matches.
