Where it came from
The Consider card from the Secret Lair Drop series was released as part of the 'Artist Series: Magali Villeneuve' collection. Designed to showcase the distinct, ethereal style of the renowned fantasy illustrator, this version of the card was created to provide collectors with a premium, alternate-art iteration of a staple blue spell originally introduced in the Modern Horizons 2 set. The piece reflects Villeneuve’s signature focus on light and character-driven composition, intended to elevate the card’s narrative presence within a player's deck.
This specific iteration was received warmly by the Magic: The Gathering community, which frequently looks to Secret Lair drops as a venue for showcasing individual artistic voices rather than just game utility. By stripping away the standard frame to emphasize the atmospheric artwork, the design functions as a collector's piece that maintains the integrity of the original card's function while serving as a small-scale gallery work. Its design context is rooted in the broader initiative by Wizards of the Coast to deepen the aesthetic connection between high fantasy art and hobbyist collecting.
