Demon

The Demon token, marked as collector number 6, was released as part of the Core Set 2021 expansion for Magic: The Gathering. These tokens were produced to represent a 6/6 black creature with flying that could be summoned into play by specific spells and abilities found within the set, such as those associated with the planeswalker Liliana, Waker of the Dead. As a game accessory, its primary purpose is to provide a clear, standardized visual reference for players during complex board states.

The artwork for this particular iteration of the Demon was executed by illustrator Johannes Voss. His design approach focused on capturing the dark, imposing silhouette of a demonic entity through a palette of deep purples and jagged, shadowed anatomy, aligning with the core aesthetic of black-aligned cards in the game. Upon its release, the card was well-received by players for its high-quality finish and its functional utility, becoming a staple tool for those utilizing demon-summoning mechanics in their decks.
