Cat

The Cat token was released in the Core Set 2021 for the Magic: The Gathering trading card game, designed by Wizards of the Coast. Tokens in this set are created as physical representations of creatures summoned by other spells or abilities during gameplay, specifically functioning as a 1/1 white creature card. The artistic direction for these tokens typically adheres to the aesthetic themes of the associated expansion, aiming for a clean, consistent style that remains functional during the fast-paced nature of play.

The design of this specific token features artwork by artist Jason A. Engle. His approach for this piece was to capture the essence of a nimble, domestic feline, providing players with a visually distinct marker that is easy to identify on the battlefield. Upon its release, the card was well received by the community for its straightforward utility and the high quality of the creature illustration, which is standard for the modern era of Magic: The Gathering token production.
